What is Ethnic Fusion Sound?
EFS is a music productions company, founded by World Percussionist and Singer, Mr. Ricardo Rik Hambra.
Here follows a statement regarding the philosophy EFS has as a searchlight for its artistic realization.
In this Ultra Modern Age that we're living now, we think it's neccesary to recover our past roots, in order to understand in a better way the original sources from all this amazing world music we can enjoy now.
As in the Classical music field, The Ethnic music has very deep an ancient roots.
One example among many, Indian Music has it's origins thousands of years ago, and it's development and levels of sophistication are still healthy and alive in our time, as a matter of study and rejoice for millons of people.
In our Ethnic Fusion Sound project, we're trying to combine the ancient world music that comes from cultures as diverse as Indian, Mediterranean, African, European. the Americas with Cuban, Brazilian, Argentinean, North American styles, etc. with the modern and technological musical sources that comes mainly from sources like Funk, Hip Hop, Jazz or Electronica.
It's an attempt to create an original sound, with the wisdom and beauty of the many different ancient roots we can find as a heritage in our days.
We are conscious of the limitations, specially regarding the impossible task of getting to know every single music style available in this world; it's absolutely impossible!
Even though, Ethnic Fusion Sound project tries to look for an approach and building bridges between the music styles of the present and the past.
The idea is not just 'to put together' sounds, melodies, rhythms, etc. with little or no music research at all. Our aim is to create an Alchemy, based on a reasonable - but always incomplete amount of knowledge and experience, in both Ethnic and Modern music fields, with the commitment to achieve good quality material, and also original, when possible.
That's our main goal in Ethnic Fusion Sound. Of course it's a difficult task, but we try to do our best!
